Clark Marshall Whitney (Daniel), son of Daniel and Arvilla (Marsh) Whitney, was born 22 Dec 1820, Hounsfield, Jefferson Co., NY, died 20 Apr 1901, Osage, Mitchell Co., IA.

He married firstly, 13 Aug 1851, Jefferson Co., NY, Harriet R. Bennett, daughter of Oliver E. and Abigal M. (Motaling) Bennett. She was born 25 Apr 1832, NY, and died 16 May 1859, Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI.

He married secondly, 3 Jul 1859, Jefferson Co., WI, Nancy Frank, parentage unknown. She was born 6 Mar 1819, NY, died 26 Oct 1905, Osage, Mitchell Co., IA.

Clark removed to Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI, when 25 years old, where he was married to Miss Harriet Bennett. In 1851, Clark and his wife Harriet sold land to Watertown Joint School District 11 where they built the Whitney School. The following year, Clark donated the burial ground to the district which came to be known as Whitney Cemetery. As reported in a 26 May 1859 Watertown Gazette article; "On the 16th inst., Mrs. Harriet Whitney, wife of C. M. Whitney, of the town of Watertown, destroyed her own life by throwing herself into Rock River and drowning . . . deliberately planned and calmly executed . . ."

In 1874 he and his 2nd wife Nancy, removed to Iowa and settled in Burr Oak, Mitchell Co. In 1894 they removed to Osage, Mitchell Co. where they resided until their deaths.

ii. Ida May Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1856, Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI; m. 25 Dec 1878, IA, William A. Perry. She died 22 Oct 1929, Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., CA. He died 4 Apr 1914, Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI.
iii. Irene Abigail Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1858, Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI; m. 1880, probably in Osage, Mitchell Co., IA, Anthony Miller.
