Cornelius5 Whitney (Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Matthias4 and Alice (Robbins) Whitney, was born 5 Jul 1749, Killingly, CT,[1] and died 24 Mar 1833, Mexico, NY.[2]

Cornelius married firstly, Martha Graves. She probably died about 1783.

Cornelius married secondly, before 1791, Elizabeth May. She was born in 1753, Rutland, VT.

He lived in 1781 at Killingly, CT.

Pierce says the following:[3]

He was born in Killingly, Conn., in that part which was subsequently North Killingly. He served four years in the Revolutionary war in a Connecticut regiment, and was at the battle of Bunker Hill. At the close of the war he moved to Granville, NY, and later to Mexico, NY, where he died. Was a farmer.

viii. Roxa Whitney, b. 24 Jun 1801, Granville, NY; m. 15 May 1828, Mexico, NY, William H. Williams.
She and William H. Williams lived at Butler, NY. She was also known as Roxana Whitney.
ix. John Whitney, b. 2 Jan 1804, Granville, NY; m.(1) Nancy Huntington; m.(2) Caroline M. Herbert; m.(3) ----- -----; m.(4) Elizabeth -----.
