David Hyatt5 Whitney (David4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of David4 and Elizabeth (Hyatt) Whitney, was born 25 Aug 1761, Norwalk, CT,[1] and died 7 Dep 1834, Walton, Delaware Co., NY.

He married, 12 May 1796, Norwalk, CT, Nancy Raymond,[2] daughter of Moses and Esther (Benedict) Raymond. She was born 28 Aug 1775, Norwalk, CT, and died 18 Feb 1865, Taylor, Cortland Co., NY.

Phoenix says the following:

... a cooper, millwright, miller, and farmer .... They settled at Norwalk, and about 1805, moved to Walton, Delaware Co., N.Y., where he died, 7 Sept. 1834, and was buried. She died at the residence of her son, Thaddeus Seymour Whitney, in Taylor, Cortland Co., N.Y., 18 Feb. 1865, and was buried in Taylor. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, about one year.

iii. Charlotte Whitney, b. 15 Feb. 1800, Norwalk, CT; m. William Henry Strong.
iv. Nancy Whitney, b. 24 March 1802, Norwalk, CT; m. Charles Merrill.
v. Harriet Whitney, b. 28 Jan 1804, Norwalk, CT; m. 11 Oct 1849, New York, NY, William Van Deusen, who was born in 1792. He died without children. She was living in Toledo, Ohio, in 1868.
vi. Elizabeth Hyatt Whitney, b. 1 Jan 1806, Walton, NY; "Eliza" m.(1) 16 Feb 1832, Torrington, CT, Marvin Barber,[4] as his second wife; m.(2) Augustus Grant.
vii. Thaddeus Seymour Whitney, b. 14 Feb. 1808, Walton, NY; m. Laura Rockwell.
viii. Moses Raymond Whitney, b. 5 Oct 1811, Walton, NY; m. Martha Maria Copeland.
ix. Cordelia Whitney, b. 6 July 1813, Walton, NY; m. Thomas Jefferson Clarke.
x. Selina Whitney, b. 10 Oct 1816, Walton, NY; d. 13 Sep 1836, New York, NY. He was buried in a small cemetery in Williamsburgh, L. I., and afterward removed to Cypress Hills Cemetery, Newtown, L. I.
xi. Minott Whitney, b. 29 July 1818, Walton, NY; d. 4 Nov 1818, Walton, NY, and was buried there.
