Family:Whitney, Edward (1825-1863)
Edward Whitney ([prob.] Adolphus, Benjamin), probably son of Adolphus and Martha (Powers) Whitney, was born 1 Apr 1825, Hartland, VT, and was killed in action, 25 Nov 1863, Missionary Ridge, TN. A memorial to him is in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.[1]
He married, 24 Jan 1845, Hartland, VT, Adeline Balch,[2] daughter of John and Lydia (Reed) Balch. She was born about 1822, and died 10 Oct 1894, Saratoga Springs, NY. She was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY.[3]
He served in the Civil War as a Private, Co. C, 100th Indiana Infantry Regiment. Enlisted on 15 Aug 1862. Mustered out on 25 Nov 1863 at Missionary Ridge, TN.[4]
In 1892, she and Frederick A. lived at 134 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY.[5]
In 1893, she and Frederick A. lived at 133 Woodlawn Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY.[6]
In 1894, she and Frederick A. lived at 88 Catherine St., Saratoga Springs, NY.[7]
