Family:Whitney, Elijah (1755-a1820)

Elijah⁵ Whitney (Elijah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of Elijah⁴ and Mercy (Heald) Whitney,^[1] was born 8 Jul 1755, Harvard, MA,^[2] "son of widow Rebekah," nearly five months after his father's death, and died after 1820, and possibly after 1830 (when his son was called "Jr.").^[3]

He married, 25 Jan 1773, Bolton, MA, Lydia McElwain.^[4] She was born about 1755.

He and Lydia McElwain lived at Guilford, VT.

In 1791, he and his family were enumerated in Westminster, just 9 miles north of Putney.
