Elisha Miller7 Whitney (Nathan6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Nathan6 and Anna (York) Whitney, was born 18 Sep 1806, Esopus, NY, and died after 1874.
He married, 18 Aug 1831, Syracuse, NY, Helen Sophia Forman, daughter of Joshua and Margaret Ann (Alexander) Forman. She was born 30 Mar 1814, Syracuse, NY, and died after 1874.
Phoenix says the following:
- "Elisha Miller Whitney, b. in Esopus, N.Y., 18 Sept. 1806; a merchant; married, 18 Aug. 1831, at the house of Dr. M. Williams, in Syracuse, N.Y., by Rev. Dr. Dyer, Episcopal, to Helen Sophia Forman, who was born in Syracuse, 30 March 1814, dau. of Joshua and Margaret Ann (Alexander) Forman. They settled at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and, in 1874, were living at 318 Main Street, where he was engaged in the carpet trade."

Henry Sheldon Whitney, b. 24 Nov 1836, Poughkeepsie, NY; m. Susan Disbrow. iv. Mary Elizabeth Leavenworth Whitney, b. 20 Feb 1839, Poughkeepsie, NY; m. 18 Jan 1866, in her father's house, by Rev. James L. Corning, Congregational, Edward R. Sherman, an operator in oil, of Pit Hole City, PA. She d. 29 July 1866, Poughkeepsie, of consumption, and was buried in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. He was living at Titusville, PA, in 1874. v. Margaret Ann Whitney, b. 5 Jan 1841, Poughkeepsie, NY; m. Ross Leslie.
