George W. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born Sep 1836, or late 1838, NY, and died 14 Feb 1905, Seneca Co., OH, aged 66 years. He was buried in Bettsville Liberty Cemetery, Bettsville, OH.[1]

He married, 18 Jun 1863, Seneca Co., OH, Emma Rachel Moser,[2] daughter of Jacob and Rosanna Carns {Kerschner) Moser. She was born 7 Apr 1839, Bedford Co., PA, and died 17 Nov 1921, Toledo, OH. She was buried in Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin, OH.[3]

George Whitney registered for the draft in Tiffin, OH, on 1 Jul 1863, aged 24, married.[4]

On 3 Sep 1898, from NY, Emma Whitney applied for a widow's pension for the service of George W. Whitney, Co. L, 137th New York Infantry.[5]

Emma's obituary appeared in the Tiffin Daily Tribune, Seneca, Ohio, dated 18 Nov 1921.
