Capt. Henry Joshua7 Whitney (William6, Elijah5, John4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William6 and Prudence (Brown) Whitney, was born 22 Oct 1812, Norwich, VT, and died 19 Jun 1894, New Orleans, LA.
He married firstly, about 1846, Margaret Conroy. She was born about 1813, Ireland, and died 1864 (according to Pierce).
He married secondly, about 1859, Hannah Conroy. She was born about 1842, Ireland, and died 25 Oct 1929, New Orleans, LA.
He was born in Norwich, VT, resided in Boston, and went south to New Orleans on a trading vessel. For some years he was a pilot on the Mississippi river, and was so engaged when the war broke out. Much against his wishes he was forced into the Confederate naval service. He resided New Orleans, Louisiana, 629 Chartres street.
