Horace7 Whitney (Ezra6, Ezra5, John4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Ezra6 and Sally (Hooker) Whitney, was born 7 Sep 1787, Athens Township, Windham Co., VT, and died 14 Mar 1869, probably Burns, NY, aged 80 years 6 months 7 days. He was buried in Canaseraga Cemetery, Burns, NY.

At a town meeting held 10 March 1817, Horace Whitney was one of twelve men elected "for Heyward for the town of Rockingham". A "hayward" is an official in charge of public fencing and impounding stray animals.
He married, 27 Mar 1817, Rockingham, VT, Hannah Towne,[1] daughter of John and Hannah (Russell) Towne. She was born about 9 May 1795, MA, and died 15 Jun 1851, aged 76 years 1 month 6 days. She was buried in Canaseraga Cemetery, Burns, NY.
He moved with his parents and siblings from the family home in Vermont to Allegany County, NY, in 1817.
