Isaac⁵ Whitney (Jason⁴, Mark³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Jason⁴ and Elizabeth (Beal) Whitney, was born 17 Aug 1770, Natick, MA,^[1] and died Mar 1818, Ontario Co., NY.

He married firstly, ----- -----, of whom nothing further is known.

He married secondly, about 1807, Middlesex, NY, Susanna (Dornbach) Hall, daughter of William and Rebecca (Bossert) Dornbach. She was born 11 May 1780, Brunswick Twp., Berks Co., PA, and died 9 Feb 1867, Ray, MI, or Macomb, MI. She had married firstly, 1798, Muncy Creek, Lycoming Co., PA, Jesse Hall. He was born in 1777, and died May 1807. She married thirdly, 1820, Middlesex, NY, Elijah Dodge. He died 1845, Monroe Co., NY. Her maiden name is given in some sources as "Turnback".

He was born in Natick, MA, emigrated to NY, and died in Middlesex in 1817. He was a kind husband and father, and true Christian man. He was a pioneer in that section when it was settled by the Indians, with whom he was on friendly terms. He was also able to converse with them in their dialect. After the death of his first wife he married a widow, Mrs. Hall, for his second wife, and she had five children by her first husband and one by her third. Isaac was an extensive farmer and one of the largest in that part of New York. He died in 1817; resided Middlesex, Ontario County, NY.

Town of Naples. "In 1793 Captain Watkins built the first framed barn, and the honor of building the first framed house fell to pioneer Isaac Whitney, in 1794, Captain Watkins also was the pioneer hotel-keeper in the town.

"The persons and families mentioned above were the first settlers in the town, but they were soon afterward followed by others, whose names are also worthy of mention in these pages. ... Mr. Sutton very appropriately arranges the names of early settles in Naples, from which we extract the following: In district No. 1 ...; of No. 9 were Isaac Whitney, Benj. Clark, Simon Lyon, Stephen Storey and Dr. Newcomb; ..."^[2]

On 5 Apr 1789, Naples, NY, Isaac Whitney was chosen fence viewer.^[3]

He was an early member of the Baptist Church at Benton Center, Yates Co., NY.^[4]

Town of Italy: "Isaac Whitney settled on lot 4, Slot's survey, in 1800, and moved away in 1806."^[5]

Town of Middlesex: In 1803, Isaac Whitney was on a list of jurors.^[6]

"His son, Isaac, removed from New England to Middlesex, Ontario county, New York, and there became an extensive farmer. He was twice wedded, his second marriage having been with Mrs. Susanna Hall, who had five children by her previous marriage. Of the second union were born eight children, and after the death of her second husband Mrs. Whitney wedded a man named Dodge, one son, Lewis, being born of this marriage. Five of the Whitney children came to Michigan in the early pioneer days and they settled in Macomb county, where they became closely concerned with the development and upbuilding of that now opulent section of the state."^[7]

In the name of God. Amen.

Isaac Whitney of the town of Middlesex County of Ontario State of New York do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

First I resign my Soul into the hands of God hoping and believing in the remision of my Sins by the Merrets and Mediation of Jesus Christ, and my body I Commit to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after Named and my Worldly Estate I give and devise as follows:

First I give and devise that all my lands & tenements with the appurtenances Situate Lying and being in the town of Middlesex to be Equally divided amongst my heirs to have and to hold by my said heirs and assigns forever, also I give to my Wife Susanah Whitney the use of the Lands during the time and for the purpose for the maintenance of the Children and allso the use of the Land while she remains my Widow; all the rest and residue of my Personal Estate Whatsoever of what nature kind or Quantity soever may be and not herein before given and disposed of after payment of my debts Legacies and funeral expences and I do hereby Constitute and appoint my said Wife Susanah Whitney with Jeremiah Comstock sole Executrix of this my Last will and testament.

On 20 Jun 1818, widow Susannah Whitney appeared on a tax list for Middlesex, NY, taxed on $590 worth of real estates, $118 of personal property, and owed $1.71 tax thereon.^[9]

On 20 Jun 1819, Elijah Dodge appeared on a tax list for Middlesex, NY, taxed on $590 worth of real estates, and owed $1.55 tax thereon.^[10]
