Ivers9 Whitney (Joseph8, William7, William6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Joseph8, was born 30 Jan 1819, Winchendon, MA,[1] and died 20 Apr 1889, Gardner, MA, aged 70 years 2 months 20 days, of consumption.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 27 Apr 1844, Winchendon, MA, for him and Lucy Whitney "of Gardner".[3] He married firstly, 23 May 1844, Gardner, MA, Lucy9 Whitney, his cousin, daughter of Seth8 and Sally (Wood) Whitney.[4] She was born 22 Jun 1821, and died 8 Mar 1857, Gardner, MA, aged 35 years, of suicide by insanity.[5]

He married secondly, 17 Apr 1860, Gardner, MA, Rhoda A. Adams, daughter of Daniel and Dinah/Diana (Metcalf) Adams.[6] She was born 9 Aug 1820, Westminster, MA, and died 24 Jan 1910, Gardner, MA, aged 89 years 5 months 15 days, of old age.[7] She was buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner, MA.

Ivers Whitney was a farmer and in company with his father carried on the farming business. In 1856 he was elected one of the assessors, and with the exception of the following year held the office for twenty-seven consecutive years or until his health would not admit of it. He also held the office of overseer of poor for nineteen years, besides other minor offices. He was noted for his integrity, and generally respected by all classes. He resided Gardner, MA.
