James Whitney (Aaron), son of Aaron and Sarah (Fitch) Whitney, was born circa 1797, at an unknown location, and died after 1860, Hudson, La Porte Co., IN. He is buried in Springville Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.[1]
He married circa 1819, Verona, Oneida Co., NY, Laura Avery, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Langdon) Avery. She was born 5 Oct 1798, Westmoreland, Oneida Co., NY, and died 8 Dec 1873, Hudson, La Porte Co., IN, aged 74 years 10 months 3 days [sic]. She is buried in Springville Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.[2]

It is speculation that James is the grown son of Aaron Whitney and that he was raised in the Elisha Walsworth household when the widow Sarah (Fitch) Whitney remarried.
