He married 27 Jan 1864, Middlebury, VT,[3] Emma Cyrene Wheeler, daughter of Calvin and Cyrene (Wheelock) Wheeler.[4] She was born 27 Dec 1843, Middlebury, VT,[5] died 6 Jul 1901, Salisbury, VT,[6] and was buried West Salisbury, VT.
James enlisted in Co. E 14th VT Vols for 9 months in the Civil War. He was in the battle of Gettysburgh on the Unions side of "Picketts Charge."
