Jump to navigationJump to searchJesse Bedient7 Whitney (William6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of William6 and Sally (Batterson) Whitney, was born 11 Oct 1810, Wolcott, VT, and died after 1839.
He married, say 21 Dec 1833, Elmore, VT, Hannah Estabrook.[1]
Phoenix says the following:
- ... after living with her about two years, went to Ohio, as a clock-peddler, and never returned. His brothers and sisters have not heard from him since about 1839."
Children of Jesse Bedient7 and Hannah (Estabrook) Whitney:
i. Norman Gustavus8 Whitney, b. ca. 1836, VT; m. Mariah Louisa Woods.
Census
- 1840: The only Jesse Whitney in Ohio was 40-49, so unlikely to be this man, who was 29, and further is otherwise identified. There is a Jesse Whitney in New York, New York Co., NY, with 1 male 20-29, 1 male 0-4, 1 female 20-29, and 1 female 0-4. The ages could fit this family if they also had a daughter born 1835-1840, but there is no indication that they ever lived in New York City.
- 1850: not found.
