Family:Whitney, John (s1777-a1806)

Capt. John Whitney, parentage unknown (but see notes below), was born say 1777, and died after 1806.

He married, 3 Nov 1796, Guilford, VT, Lovina Bullock, daughter of William and Meriam⁶ (Whitney) Bullock, and granddaughter of Solomon⁵ and Elizabeth (Smith) Whitney. She was born 24 Dec 1777, Guilford, VT, and died 8 Apr 1832, Abbotsford, QC.

Children of Capt. John and Lovina (Bullock) Whitney:

i.	Betsey Whitney, b. ca. 1797, QC.
i.	Miriam Whitney, b. ca. 1799, QC.
i.	Artemas Stephens Whitney, b. 1 Apr 1801, QC or NH; m. Abigail Beal Knight.
ii.	John Bullock Whitney, b. 7 May 1806, Stukely, QC; m. Lucinda Avery.
i.	Benjamin Whitney, b. ca. 1811, QC.

Notes

Because his wife was a Whitney descendant, it seems possible that they were fairly closely related. There is a John Whitney who was Lovina's first cousin: John, son of Benjamin⁵ Whitney (1753-1832), who lived in Petersham, MA, and Simpson, QC. Furthermore, one of Benjamin's daughters was married in Abbotsford, QC. If this identification can be established, then John would have to be the oldest of Benjamin's children.
