John D.⁹ Whitney (Zachariah F.⁸, John⁷, John⁶, Zachariah⁵, John⁴, Joseph³, John², John¹), son of Zachariah F.⁸ and Hepsibath (Smith) Whitney, was born 17 Aug 1850, Peru, VT, and died after 1920.

He married, 17 Sep 1874, Freetown, MA, Alta M. Ashley, daughter of George L. and Sarah W. (Crapo) Ashley.^[1]. She was born about 1851, Pawlet, VT, and died 28 Jun 1912, Brockton, MA, aged 61 years.

They resided Parkville, Long Island, NY.
