Joseph6 Whitney (Joseph5, Benjamin4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Joseph5 and Mary (Child) Whitney,[1] was born 13 Mar 1738, Watertown, Massachusetts.[2]

He was apparently unmarried.

He served in the Weston Company in the Revolutionary war.[3]

The will of Joseph Whitney of Watertown, yeoman, dated 8 Jun 1790; to brother Jonathan Whitney of Watertown, entire estate, he to be executor; if he dies, to his children; witnesses, William Hunt, Danl. Cornwall, Thos. Cornwall.[4]

Also on 8 Jun 1790, Amos Bond, Esq., of Watertown, was appointed guardian of Joseph Whitney of Watertown, yeoman, incapable of taking care of himself, and posted bond, with William Hun, Esq., and Simon Whitney, yeoman, both of Watertown, sureties.[5]

The will was lodged for probate on 28 Mar 1812, by Nathaniel R. Whitney, Esqr. On 12 May 1813, the will could not be proved, as the first two witnesses were dead and the third absent; supported by Jonathan Whitney and John Dudley in right of Polly, his wife; opposed by Isaac Taylor in right of Betsey his wife.[6]
