Intentions of marriage were published 15 Oct 1797, Grafton, MA, for him and "Hannah Rice" "of Marlborough".[3] He married firstly, 10 Dec 1797, Marlborough, MA, Hannah Rice,[4] daughter of Jabez and Alice (Howe) Rice. She was born 5 Aug 1777, Marlborough, MA, and died 4 Nov 1798, Marlborough, MA, aged 21 years.[5]
