Family:Whitney, Joseph Beckley (1838-1902)

Joseph Beckley⁸ Whitney (Beckley⁷, Joseph⁶, Elijah⁵, John⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Beckley⁷ and Betsey (Greene) Whitney, was born about 14 Oct 1838, Oswego Co., NY, and died 25 Jun 1902, Brooklyn, Jackson Co., MI, aged 63 years 7 months 19 days, of heart disease.^[1] He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Brooklyn, MI.^[2]

He married, Jane Amelia Randall, daughter of Solomon and Sarah Marie (Alger) Randall. She was born Jul 1842, NY, and died 1925. She was buried in Highland Cemetery, Brooklyn, MI.^[3]

"A native of NY state, he served three years in the Civil War. He came to Brooklyn in 1867 and first worked at his trade as a carpenter before joining L. E. Hoeg in the undertaking profession. This led to his later association with Worthington where he became a partner in the firm of Whitney & Worthington, undertakers and furniture dealers." Co. A, 110th New York Volunteer Infantry.
