Lemuel Bartlett7 Whitney (Solomon6, Joseph5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Solomon6 and Phebe (Gilkey) Whitney, was born 31 Dec 1821, Unity, ME,[1] and died 20 May 1864, Spottsylvania, VA.
Marriage intentions were published 18 Dec 1847, Lincoln, ME, for him and Sarah P. Miller.[2] He married, 2 Jan 1848, Lincoln, ME, Sarah P. Miller, of Lincoln, ME. She was born about 1822, ME, and died after 1880.
Lemuel was killed in the Civil War, and his widow received a pension from the U.S. government.

i. Abner P.8 Whitney, b. 29 Sep 1848, prob. Lincoln, ME; d. after 1880, then unmarried. ii. Frederica B. H. Whitney, b. 15 Jun 1852, Bangor, ME.[3] While this would appear to be the name of a daughter, the 1860 census calls this child Frederic, and a male. Not found in 1870 or 1880. iii. Jessie Benton Whitney, b. 5 Sep 1856, Bangor, ME;[4] d. after 1870. Not found in 1880.
