Leonard8 Whitney (Leonard7, Ezekiel6, Ezekiel5, John4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Leonard7 and Ruth Richardson (Larrabee) Whitney, was born 15 Jun 1819, Sudbury, MA,[1] and died 5 Jul 1881, Watertown, MA, aged 62 years 20 days, of Bright's disease and hypertrophy of heart.[2]

He married, 2 Apr 1843, Waltham, MA, Caroline Isabel Russell,[3] daughter of Elmore and Triphosa Bush (Eager) Russell. She was born about 1826, Weston, MA, and died 30 May 1889, Watertown or Newton, MA, aged 63 years 4 months 18 days, of scirrhus of breast.[4] She was buried in Newton Cemetery, Newton, MA.

iii. Charles Elmore Whitney, b. 27 Dec 1850, Watertown, MA; m. Alice G. Noah.
iv. Emily Frances Whitney, b. 19 Aug 1852, Watertown, MA; d. 26 Jan 1885; m. 5 Nov 1874, Watertown, MA, Andrew S. Brownell, b. ca. 1850, Little Compton, RI, son of Frederick A. and Jane M. (Simmons) Brownell.[8]
v. Arthur Herbert Whitney, b. 12 Oct 1859, Watertown, MA;[9] m. Minetta Josephine Osgood.
