Levi6 Whitney (Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Abel5 and Thankful (Morton) Whitney, was born 15 May 1779, Gorham, ME,[1] and died 1855.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 28 Aug 1802, Standish, ME, for Levi Whitney and Happy Higgins.[3] They were married, 10 Nov 1802, Standish, ME,[4] or Sep 1801, Cape Cod, MA.[5] Happy Higgins, daughter of Obadiah and Sarah (Mayo) Higgins, was born 17 Apr 1781, Cape Cod, and died 1856.[6]

Levi Whitney was a Private in the War of 1812 and served under Capt. J Bailey's Company, Lt. Col. J. Burbank's Regiment. Served from 7 Sep to 20 Sep 1814. 1 day for additional travel. Service at Portland. Raised in Standish.[7]

Levi Whitney is on Standish Tax List for 1808.[8]

Note: There is also a recorded birth for a Joseph Whitney, born 31 May 1816.[33] It is not known if this was a mistake for Levi, a twin of Levi, or another situation.
