Lewis Lafayette7 Whitney (William6, Elijah5, John4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William6 and Prudence (Brown) Whitney, was born 6 Jan 1824, Norwich, VT, and died 21 Nov 1895, Woburn, MA, age 71 years 10 months 15 days, of probably heart disease.[1]
He married, 1 Jun 1850, Dorchester, MA, Hannah Humphrey Clapp, daughter of Stephen and Hannah White (Humphreys) Clapp.[2] She was born 8 or 28 Oct 1822, Dorchester, MA, and died 29 Aug 1892, Woburn, MA, aged 73 years 10 months 1 day, of chronic enteritis.[3]
He is a graduate of Bridgewater Normal school, class of 1843. Taught school six years; has been chairman of the school committee in Woburn four years; is justice of the peace; is one of the Woburn cemetery commissioners, and superintendent of the Woburn cemetery for many years; executor of many wills; executor, trustee; administrator and guardian; member of the public library committee, etc. He resided Woburn, MA.
