Loretta Betsey9 Whitney (Pascal8, Luther7, Samuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), daughter of of Pascal8 and Irena (Shepard) Whitney, was born 23 Sep 1850, Oneida Co., New York, and died 26 Jun 1926, Pasadena, CA.

She married 20 Feb 1869, Frederick Sinclair James, son of William and Catherine (Sinclair) James. He was born 20 Feb 1849, Barrington, IL, and died 1 Jul 1927, Highland Park, IL.

At the age of seven Loretta's mother, Irena Shepard Whitney, died. She lived with her grandparents Luther and Betsey Dart Whitney in Lawrenceville, NY.

They resided 1635 Sheridan Road, Buena Park, Chicago, IL.

v. Louis Norwood James, b. 15 Sep 1881; d. 1935, Ridgewood, NJ.
vi. Robert Eugene James, b. 12 Nov 1884.
