He married, 11 Sep 1944, Norfolk, VA Anna Francis Greene, daughter of Henry R. and Winifred (Mitchell) Greene of Dedham, MA. She was born 31 May 1918, Boston, MA, and died 21 Sep 2011, Norwood, MA. She resided at 50 Top Hill Ave. in Dedham subsequent to her husband's death, and at 563 Washington St. in Dedham prior to that.

- Anna F. (Greene) Whitney, a longtime resident of Dedham passed away September 21st at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. She was 93. Anna was born in Boston on May 31, 1918 to Henry and Winifred (Mitchell) Greene. She grew up in Dedham, graduating from Dedham High School. Anna met and married Louis I. Whitney, The couple settled in Dedham, and welcomed 4 children; Kenneth, Marcia, Judith and Barbara. Anna was employed at the Norfolk & Dedham Fire Insurance Company for over 20 years; she retired from there as an insurance underwriter. Anna is predeceased by her husband Louis I. Whitney, her parents Henry R. and Winifred (Mitchell) Greene and her sister Dorothy Lonsdale. She is survived by her children: Kenneth and his wife Carol of Silver Spring, Maryland, Marcia Reissfelder and her husband Donald, Sr. of Dedham, Judith Hanson and her husband Wayne of Beverly, and Barbara Kenney and her husband John of Beverly. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Amos, by 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Interment and services are private. They had four children, all of whom remain alive, with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lou was in the US Navy during WWII, serving at Norfolk, VA. After the war he returned to his job as a welder with the Sturtivant Division of the Westinghouse Corporation in Hyde Park, MA. Lou was a highly talented "Water Tight" welder. He spent the latter part of his career with Westinghouse working on projects for their nuclear program. He built components for the hydrogen recombiners at the nuclear facility at Oak Ridge, TN, and built components for the nuclear reactor on the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hyde Park, MA, and raised his family there. They are buried in the Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham, MA.
