Family:Whitney, Lyman (1788-1870)
Lyman6 Whitney (Samuel5, Eliakim4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel5 and Elizabeth (Wright) Whitney, was born 4 Mar 1788, Ballston, District, NY, and died 7 May 1870, Lockport, NY, aged 82 years of inflammation of the kidneys.[1] He was buried at Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Royalton, NY.
He married, 8 Nov 1818, Marcellus, NY, Melissa Taylor, daughter of Russel and Asenath (Hayes) Taylor. She was born 18 Mar 1795, Granby, CT, and died after 1874.
Phoenix says the following:
- "Lyman Whitney, b. in Ballston District, N. Y., 4 March 1788; a farmer; moved, with his father, to Allen's Hill, Richmond, N. Y., and thence to Marcellus, N. Y., where he married, 8 Nov. 1818, Melissa Taylor, of Marcellus, born in Granby, Conn., 18 March 1795, dau. of Russel and Asenath (Hayes) Taylor, of Granby. He was a communicant of the Protestant Episcopal Church. He died at the house of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann (Whitney) Hurd, at Lockport, N. Y., 7 May 1870, aged 82 years, and was buried at Mountain Ridge Cemetery, in Royalton, N. Y. She lived with her daughter, Mrs. Hurd, at Wright's Corners, N. Y., in 1874."
