Mortimer Wilson Whitney (Egbert Travis), son of Egbert Travis and Mary (Curtis) Whitney, was born 18 Oct 1839, Midlothian, NY, and died 15 Sep 1934, Kansas City, MO. He was buried in Wallace Cemetery, Jewell, KS.^[1]

He married, 2 Oct 1864, Knoxville, Knox Co., IL, Phebe Ellen Byram,^[2] daughter of Elias Thompson and Harriett (Elwell) Byram. She was born 22 Feb 1840, Knoxville, IL, and died 21 Jun 1912, Phippsburg, CO. She was buried Yampa Cemetery, Yampa, CO.^[3]

He served in Company D, Illinois 1st Cavalry Regiment, Civil War.
