Moses7 Whitney (Samuel6, Ebenezer5, Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Samuel6 and Sarah (Young) Whitney, was born 4 Mar 1810, Whitney, NB, and died 19 Mar 1883, Weston, ME, at age 73.
He married, 2 Aug 1833, North Esk, NB, Charlotte Cromwell, daughter of Asa C. and Charlotte (Tozer) Cromwell. She was born about 1818, NB, and died 1900, Milladore, WI. She is buried in Union Cemetery, Milladore, WI.
Moses Whitney lived at Weston, ME.
"Moses WHITNEY paid taxes until the early 1840s on the farm property transferred to him in 1829 by his father Samuel. Then about 1843, he moved his family to Maine, first to the Linneus area (where the births of several children were entered in Linneus town records) and before 1870, to the Bancroft Plantation, in the remote southern part of Aroostook County.
Moses was a farmer and lumberman and one active in community affairs in both New Brunswick and Maine. He occupied numerous parish offices in North Esk between 1832 and 1843. In Maine he was a justice of the peace and town clerk of Weston between 1873 and 1883.
Moses and his wife Charlotte CROMWELL, who were married in a Presbyterian ceremony in North Esk, on 2 Aug 1833, where both enumerated in the census of 1870 for Weston, but he was a widower by 1880 [sic: Both he and his wife appear in the 1880 census there, and both are reported "married", not "widowed".--RLW]. Five of the eldest children were born in New Brunswick."[1]
