Orlando7 Whitney (Walter6, Josiah5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Walter6 and Caroline Matilda (Disbrow) Whitney, was born 23 Sep 1840, Darien, CT, was baptized 5 Mar 1841, Darien, CT, and died after Jul 1874.

He married, 25 Dec 1866, Webster, NH, Mary Stickney Couch,[1] daughter of Enoch and Jane Osgood (Stickney) Couch. She was born 12 Jun 1844, Webster, NH, and died after Jul 1874.

Phoenix says the following:

"He was engaged in teaching from the Spring of 1857 to 1860; lived at Groton, CT, from the Autumn of 1860 to the Spring of 1862; entered the Methodist Episcopal Theological School at Concord, NH, in the Fall of 1863, graduating in 1866; was ordained a deacon at New York, 5 Apr 1868, by Bishop Edmund F. Janes, but had to give up preaching, on account of delicate health; taught school at Darien for one year, 1871-72; and then engaged in wood-turning, which employment was still continued in July 1874, when he was living at Darien."
