Oscar Parker Whitney (Libbeus F., John), son of Libbeus F. and Ruth Lorette (Cleveland) Whitney, was born 11 Dec 1843, Alden, NY, and died 2 Jul 1915, Eureka, CA.[1] He was buried in Rock Lake Cemetery, Lake Mills, WI,[2] or Myrtle Grove Cemetery, Eureka, CA.

He married 1866-1867, Smithland, IA, Maria Jenette Landon. She was born 26 Oct 1847, NY, and died 1 Sep 1923, Eureka, CA, aged 75 years.[3] She was buried in Ocean View Cemetery, Eureka, CA.

"Oscar Parker Whitney, born Dec. 11, 1843 in Alden, Erie Co., New York, A CIVIL WAR VETERAN, and passed away July 2, 1915 at Eureka, California. He was taken Prisoner in the Civil War on Nov. 3, 1863. He enlisted in Co. A, 23 Wisconsin Infantry Aug. 15, 1862, and was mustered out July 4, 1865.
"Oscar's parents were Libbeus F. Whitney and Ruth Lorette Cleveland Whitney. Oscar and Jenette were married in Smithland, Woodbury County, Iowa, 1866/1867."
