Phinehas Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about 1780, NH, and died after 1854, when his wife was called "married", not "widowed" at her death.

He married firstly, 30 Apr 1812, Merrimack, NH, Susannah Fields.

He married secondly, before 1816, Nancy -----. It's possible that Nancy ----- and Susannah Fields were identical.

He married thirdly, 5 Feb 1828, Clarissa Hassell, daughter of Jason and Alice (Standley) Hassell. She was born 9 Jul 1797, Merrimack, NH, and died 8 Mar 1854, Lowell, MA, aged 56 years 8 months, of cancer.[1]

They resided in Merrimack, NH, Lee, MA, and Lowell, MA.

Notes

It is possible that he was identical to Phinehas6 Whitney, son of Phinehas5 and Susanna (Swoller) Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1779, Dunstable, MA/NH.

The inclusion of Eliza F. in this family is based on the 1860 Census, in which Lucy Whitney, very likely the daughter of this Phinehas, was living with John and Eliza F. (Whitney) Diggles in Maine, together with Eliza's marriage record in Lowell VRs.
