Family:Whitney, Royal B. (1817-1905)
Royal B. Whitney (Joel, Joel), son of Joel and Mary (Wheeler) Whitney, was born about 14 Feb 1817, Chesterfield, NH, and died 26 Apr 1905, North Adams, MA, aged 88 years 2 months 12 days, of colitis.[1]
He married firstly, 2 Jul 1842, Stamford, VT, Sarah M. Brackett, both of Adams, MA,[2] daughter of Benjamin and Annis (-----) Brackett. She was born about 28 May 1817, Ashfield, MA, and died 5 May 1883, North Adams, MA, aged 66 years, of dropsy,[3] or aged 65 years 11 months 7 days [on gravestone].
He was a carpenter, and resided Adams, MA.
Children of Royal B. and Sarah M. (Brackett) Whitney:
i. Nancy L. Whitney, b. ca. 1846, MA; d. after 1860. ii. Helen A. Whitney, b. ca. 22 Jul 1852, North Adams, MA; d. 26 Apr 1900, North Adams, MA, aged 47 years 9 months 4 days, of diabetes melliter;[4] m. 29 Jul 1872, Adams, MA, Andrus M. Harrington.[5]
Notes
There could be confusion with Royal B. Whitney of Buxton, ME. This man was a carpenter, the other an engineer. Their ages are close, and they both married a wife Sarah M.
