Samuel5 Whitney (Eliakim4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Eliakim4 and Mary (Beachgood) Whitney, was born 21 or 23 Apr 1761, Stamford, CT,[1] and died 14 Dec 1845, Royalton Center, NY.
He "of Ballston, NY" married, 10 Oct 1782, Stamford, CT, Elizabeth Wright "of Norwalk", daughter of Dennis and Susanna (Smith) Wright. She was born 4 Mar 1761, Oyster Bay, NY, and died 26 Apr 1838, Richmond, NY.
Phoenix says the following:
- Samuel Whitney, b. at Stamford, Conn., 21 (family-record says 23) Ap. 1761; a farmer; was a resident of Ballston, N.Y., 10 Oct 1782, when he married at Stamford, in the Episcopal Church, Elizabeth Wright, of Norwalk, Conn., born at Oyster Bay, L.I., 4 March 1761, dau. of Dennis and Susanna (Smith) Wright. They dwelt in Saratoga County, N.Y., till 1805, and then settled one mile east of Allen's Hill, in Richmond, N.Y., where she died 26 Ap. 1838. He sold his farm, in the Spring of 1839, and went to dwell with his son Dennis, at Royalton Centre, N.Y., where he died 14 Dec. 1845. Both were buried at Allen's Hill. They were communicants of the Protestant Episcopal Church; and he was a soldier of the Revolutionary War.

Melissa Taylor. iv. Ira Whitney, b. 14 Mar 1791; d. 29 Oct 1816, Allen's Hill, Richmond, NY; unmarried. v. Mary Ann Whitney, b. 23 Dec 1793; m. James Sibley. vi. William Whitney, b. 4 Aug 1796; d. 3 Feb 1822, Allen's Hill, Richmond, NY, and was buried there; unmarried. vii. Elizabeth Whitney, b. 11 Sep 1799; d. 6 Jun 1823, Allen's Hill, Richmond, NY, and was buried there; unmarried. viii. Samuel Whitney, b. 16 Oct 1802; d. 22 Jan 1822, Allen's Hill, Richmond, NY, and was buried there; unmarried.
