Samuel8 Whitney (Smyrna7, Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Smyrna7 and Ruth (Whitney) Whitney; born 9 Mar 1821, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 31 Mar 1868, Fitchburg, MA, aged 47 years 24 days, of lung fever, paper manufacturer.[2]
He married, 29 Nov 1848, Westminster, MA, Carolina Abby Puffer, daughter of Samuel Read and Polly (Wood) Puffer.[3] She was born 28 Feb 1823 or 1822, Westminster, MA. She "of Boston" married secondly, 24 Oct 1876, Boston, MA, Anson Rogers, of Janesville, WI, as his second wife.[4]
He was born in Westminster, MA. He was a prominent church member, was very liberal with his money, giving large amounts for religious work and to charity. He was very successful in his business, that of manufacturing paper. He resided Ashland, and Fitchburg, MA.

(-----) Tracy.[9]
