Samuel Whitney, parentage unknown, was born before 1775 (between 1730-1775).

Nothing is known of his wife.

13 June 1815—Bill Johnson, a boy of color aged 13 years, bound to Samuel Whitney as a blacksmith.[1]

Possible children of Samuel Whitney, based on a census reconstruction, possibly incomplete:

i. (son) Whitney, b. 1806-1824, probably NC.
ii. (son) Whitney, b. 1806-1824, probably NC.
iii. (son) Whitney, b. 1806-1824, probably NC.
iv. (son) Whitney, b. 1806-1824, probably NC.

Notes

Was one of his sons perhaps Harry Whitney of New Bern, Craven Co., SC?

  • 1840, Newbern, Craven Co., NC: Samuel Whitney, 1 free colored male 55-99, 1 free colored female 36-54, 1 male slave 55-99, 4 male slaves 5-9, 1 male slave under 5, 1 female slave 24-35, 2 female slaves under 5, 11 people total, 3 in manufacture or trades.
