Samuel H.8 Whitney (Stephen7, Samuel6, Abner5, John4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Stephen7 and Sarah (Craig) Whitney, was 11 Sep 1818, Readfield, ME, and died 22 Feb 1888, Salem, ME. He was buried in Mount Abram Cemetary, Salem, ME.

Marriage intentions were published 20 Sep 1855, Freeman, ME, for him and Allura H. Preston,[1] daughter of Hiram W. and Celia P. (Savage) Preston. They were married 23 Sep 1855, Strong, ME.[2] She was born Jun 1830, ME, and died after 1900.

i. Charles H.9 Whitney, b. ca. 1857, ME; d. 20 Jan 1874, Salem, ME. He is buried at Mt. Abram Cemetery in Salem, ME.
ii. Frank Arthur Whitney, b. 10 Jul 1858, Salem, ME; d. 20 Dec 1918, Cambridge, MA; m. 20 Sept 1886, Lowell, MA, Florence L. Farnham, b. 5 Sep 1858, Lowell, MA, dau. of George B. and Laura A. (-----) Farnham.[3] He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH.
iii. Lizzie Estelle Whitney, b. 19 Sep 1859, Salem, ME; d. 30 Mar 1893 in Lowell, MA; m. 20 May 1880, Lowell, MA, Rev. Gardner Wills, b. ca. 1859, Highland Plantation, ME, d. 1938, son of Henry C. J. and Emily A. (-----) Wills.[4] He m.(2) Elizabeth O. Currier; m.(3) Bertha M. Titus. Gardner and Estelle were buried in Mt. Abram Cemetery, Salem, ME.
iv. James Odell Whitney, b. Jun 1863, Salem, ME; m. Harriet Ingham.
v. Samuel Whitney, b. Mar 1866, Salem, ME; m. 7 Oct 1890, Nashua, NH, Carrie Hardy.[5]
