Family:Whitney, Solomon (1793-1876)

Solomon⁶ Whitney (Solomon⁵, Solomon⁴, David³, Joshua², John¹), son of Solomon⁵ and Polly (Marshall) Whitney, was born 4 Jun 1793, Poultney, VT, and died 13 Jan 1876, Deep River, IA.

He married, 1818, Poultney, VT, Nancy Hurlbut. She was born 1798, Poultney, VT, and died 28 Oct 1856.

He settled in Poultney, VT, where his children were born. He learned the tanner's trade, followed it, carrying on shoemaking until he was between sixty and seventy years of age; also he had a farm. His son Newton concluded to go west after staying with him until he was past thirty years, and they sold out and went west in 1855. He lived to be eighty-two years, and was buried in Deep River, IA. He resided Poultney, VT, and Deep River, IA.
