Family:Whitney, Thaddeus (1790-1860)

Thaddeus⁶ Whitney (Enos⁵, John⁴, Richard³, John², Henry¹), son of Enos⁵ and Eunice (Avery) Whitney, was born 20 Dec 1790, Wallingford, CT, was baptized 29 Sep 1799, Northford, CT, and died 24 Jul 1860, Gibson, PA, aged 96 years 7 months 4 days.

He married, Gibson, PA, Thirza Washburn, daughter of Joseph and Pruda (Corbett) Washburn. She was born 3 Dec 1800, New Milford, PA, and died 18 Mar 1871, Gibson, PA.

Phoenix says the following:

"Thaddeus Whitney, b. at Wallingford, Conn., 20 Dec. 1790; bap. at Northford, Conn., 29 Sept. 1799; a farmer; moved with his parents, in 1817, to Gibson, Penn., where he married Thirza Washburn, dau. of Joseph and Pruda (Corbett) Washburn, of New Milford, Penn., where she was born, 3 Dec. 1800. Their home was in Gibson during the rest of their lives, and they were buried there. He died in Gibson, 24 July 1860, aged 69 years, 7 months, and 4 days, having been a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church about forty years. His wife, who was a member of the same church, died in Gibson, 18 March 1871."

iii.	Joseph Edgar Whitney, b. 16 Jul 1824, Gibson, PA; m. Eliza Ann Parmenter.
iv.	Francis Marion Whitney, b. 17 Jul 1827, Gibson, PA; m. Julia Ann Belcher.
v.	Harriet Adelaide Whitney, b. 9 Nov 1828, Gibson, PA; m. John Sheldon Tiffany.
vi.	Henrietta Malvina Whitney, b. 5 Dec 1830, Gibson, PA; and resided there, with her brother Freeman, on her father's homestead, Mar 1874, unmarried.
vii.	Freeman Pembroke Whitney, b. 25 Jul 1833, Gibson, PA; m. Sarah Hine.
viii.	Harlan Stuart Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1836, Gibson, PA; enlisted at New Milford, PA, 15 Sep 1862, in Co. B, 17th Reg., Penn. Vol. Cavalry; d. 14 Apr 1863, Hope Landing, VA, of typhoid fever; bur. Gibson.
ix.	Eliza Ophelia Whitney, b. 30 May 1838, Gibson, PA; d. 16 Jul 1856, Gibson, PA; unmarried; bur. Gibson, PA.
x.	Wilberforce Richmond Whitney, b. 31 Aug 1840, Gibson, PA; m. Helen Maria Washburn.
