Family:Whitney, Thomas (1778-1863)

Thomas⁷ Whitney (Joshua⁶, Thomas⁵, William⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Joshua⁶ and Hannah (Green) Whitney, was born 5 Aug 1778, Canaan, CT, and died 7 Feb 1863, Whitney's Point, NY.

He married, 15 Nov 1801, Polly Gilbert. She was born 5 Oct 1780, CT, and died 6 Jul 1864, Whitney's Point, NY.

He was born in Canaan, CT, but resided at the junction of the Otselic and Tionghunga rivers, and the place was soon called Whitney's Point. He was magistrate of the town, its first postmaster, and for four years was sheriff of Broome county. He owned the bridge and mills there besides a large landed property in the neighborhood. He resided Whitney's Point, NY.
