William1 Whitney (Simon, Thomas, John), son of Simon and Hannah (Johnson) Whitney, was born 1799, was baptized 2 Jun 1799, Keyston, Huntingdonshire, and died 12 Mar 1869, New York, NY. He was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Trinity Church, New York, NY.

He "of Great Gidding" married firstly, 14 Oct 1822, Keyston, Huntingdonshire, Hannah Plowright, of Keyston. She was born about 1790, and died 20 Aug 1846, Bythorn, Huntingdonshire.

He married secondly, 27 Oct 1847, Bythorn, Huntingdonshire, Elizabeth "Eliza" Whittle, daughter of John and Mary (Gilbert) Whittle. She was born 13 Apr 1818, Titchmarsh, Northamptonshire, was baptized 24 Oct 1824, Titchmarsh, Northamptonshire, and died 5 Apr 1889, Brooklyn, NY. She married secondly, 8 Jan 1876, New York, NY, Robert Law.

He immigrated in April 1855, settling in Northfield, Staten Island, NY. Elizabeth immigrated, arriving in New York 16 Feb 1856, age 35, on the William Tapscott, from Liverpool, England. With her were Elizabeth, 12, John, 10, Sarah, 7, and Emma, 2.
