William Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about 1781 [age 60 in 1841], Herefordshire, England.

He married Mary -----. She was born about 1787, Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire, England.

In 1851 the family was enumerated in Hopton Wafers, Shropshire, England where William worked as an agricultural laborer and Mary worked as a washerwoman.

Notes

There was a William Whitnee, bapt. 16 Nov 1764, Cleobury, Shropshire, England, son of John and Isabel (Williams) Whitnee. This is a bit too old for the above head of household, but was probably a relative (possibly an uncle).
