William W.2 Whitney (Thomas1), son of Thomas1 and Mary (-----) Whitney), was born 17 Jun 1800, Lexington, Fayette Co., KY. He died of cholera in 1849.
He married, 15 Sep 1823, Emily Satterwhite. She died 2 Jan 1834.
It seems likely he married again, to Sarah Ann -----, who appears in the 1850 census, below. She was born about 1798, KY, and died after 1850.
"William Whitney, son of Thomas, was born June 17, 1800, in Lexington, an became a physician, marrying Sept 15, 1823, Miss Emily Satterwhite, whose brother was a physician. William died of cholera in 1849. He had 4 sons. John W. was his third son, born Oct. 10, 1829"
"William W. Whitney and Emily Satterwhite, Sept 15, 1823, W.F. Satterwhite" - Whitney Whistler
"On 15th William W. Whitney weds Emily Satterwhite both of Lexington." - Lexington Public Library's Local History Index, referencing Kentucky Reporter, p. 3 col. 4, 29 Sep 1823.
"Died on 2nd - Mrs. Emily Whitney, wife of Dr. W. W. Whitney." - Lexington Public Library's Local History Index, referencing Observer and Reporter, 9 Jan 1834
"On Tuesday last week 14 deaths, on Wednesday 11, on Thursday six deaths, on Friday seven deaths including Dr. Whitney, Dr. Brockaway died in the county." - Lexington Public Library's Local History Index, referencing Observer and Reporter p. 3 col. 1, 7 Jul 1849 (not sure if this refers to John or William).
Children of William W.2 and Emily (Satterwhite) Whitney:
i. Richard P.3 Whitney, b. ca. 1825, d. 26 Aug 1847. "Died on 26th - Richard P. Whitney, at age of 22 at home of father, Dr. W. W. Whitney." - Lexington Public Library's Local History Index, referencing Observer and Reporter. p. 3 col. 5, 28 Aug 1847. ii. (son) Whitney. iii. (prob.) Elizabeth O. Whitney, b. ca. 1828, KY; m. Samuel Bullock. See Notes below. iv. John W. Whitney, b. 10 Oct 1829. v. William Whitney, b. ca. 1833, KY; d. after 1880, then unmarried.
Notes
Note that if Elizabeth O. (Whitney) Bullock's age on the 1850 census is correct, then she could not have been a daughter of Thomas Whitney as he died in 1819. She was probably a granddaughter. The Sarah Ann Whitney enumerated with her family is most likely her mother, probably the wife of son William W. Whitney.
