He married firstly, 14 Nov 1880, Tehama Co., CA, Margaret Ann Norwood, daughter of Andrew Jackson and Frances Almira (Neidever) Norwood. She was born 1866, AR, and died 7 Dec 1892 , Red Bluff, CA. They were divorced. She married secondly, 13 Nov 1889, Tehama Co., CA, James Frank Hatfield.

He married secondly, 22 Aug 1892, Lassen Co., CA, Sarah Caroline Hipshire or Hipsher, daughter of Harvey and Caroline (Taylor) Hipsher. She was born 30 Apr 1869, CA, and died 20 Jan 1940, Butte Co., USA. She married secondly, between 1920 and 1930, Frank P. George of Red Bluff, CA, born about 1875, RI, and died after 1930.

He was perhaps the William W. Whitney listed in 1890 in Los Angeles, CA, with the business "Billings & Whitney", 58 North Daly, E. L. A.^[1]
