Asaph K.⁷ Whitney (Asaph⁶, Jonathan⁵, Benjamin⁴, Benjamin³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Asaph⁶ and Bethiah (Hopkins) Whitney, was born 27 Jan 1822, and died 2 Feb 1865, Savannah, GA, in the Civil War. He was buried in Laurel Grove North Cemetery, Lot 1544, Savannah, GA.

He married Laurania Tallmadge, daughter of ----- and Olivia (-----) Talmadge. She was born 17 Jun 1820, Scipio, NY.

He served as a Private 1st Class in Co. A, 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, in the civil war; resided Hillsdale, MI. He enlisted 28 Dec 1863; was promoted to Full Corporal on 1 Nov 1864, and died 2 Feb 1865, Savannah, GA.

His widow Laurania Whitney applied for a pension 24 Apr 1865.
