He married firstly, 27 Aug 1837, Romeo, MI, Nerissa Carrie Crittenden. She was born 1818, NY, and died after 1870.

He married secondly, before 1880, Susan C. -----. She was born about 1820, NY, and died after 1880.

He resided 901 Fillmore St., San Francisco, CA. He resided Romeo, MI, Milwaukee, WI, and San Francisco, CA.

He was born in Romeo, MI; educated at Santa Clara college, CA; studied medicine in the University of the Pacific, San Francisco, 1860 to 1863; went to Europe in 1863; visited hospitals of London and Paris and attended clinics for one and a half years. He was visiting physician at St. Mary's hospital, San Francisco, for three years; surgeon-general for the State of California four years; surgeon First Regiment National Guards, California, ten years; medical examiner for seven life insurance companies; director and president of several incorporated companies.
iii.	Jay Pitt Whitney, b. -----; d. aged 15 months.
iv.	James P. Whitney, b. -----; resided 901 Fillmore St., San Francisco.
