Family:Whitney, Joel (1787-1852)

Joel⁶ Whitney (Micah⁵, Abel⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Micah⁵ and Hannah (Cobb) Whitney; born 7 May 1787, Gorham, Maine; married firstly, Jun 1815, Phillips, Maine, Sally Dyer, born 10 May 1789, Malden, Massachusetts; died May 1834, Phillips, Maine; married secondly 1836, Farmington, Maine, Sarah (Ramsdell) Crompton. She died at Plymouth; married 3d, 1840, Trinity, Maine, Betsey (Chase) Ayer.

He was born in Gorham, Maine, married at Phillips, where he was a general merchant. In 1838 he moved to Plymouth, Maine, where, after a residence of ten years, he moved to Portland. In 1851, he moved to St. Paul, where he died the following year. He was buried at Phillips. He died 22 Mar 1852; resided Phillips, Plymouth and Portland, Maine, and Saint Paul, Minnesota.

iii.	Julia Ann Whitney, born 19 Jun 1819; died Phillips, Maine, Nov 1834.
iv.	Joel E. Whitney, born 18 May 1822; married Elsie Ayer.
v.	Eliza Jane Whitney, born 20 Jun 1824; died Saint Paul, Apr 1866.
vi.	Sarah Gustanza Whitney, born 2 Apr 1826; died Plymouth, Maine, Mar. 23, 1848.
vii.	Andrew J. Whitney, born 20 Apr 1828; married 1855, Bertha L. Burbanks; resided Kansas City, Missouri.
viii.	Eliab Latham Whitney, born 6 Jun 1830; married 1854, Helen M. Burbanks; He died 8 Feb 1868; resided Saint Paul, Minnesota.
