Joel6 Whitney (Micah5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Micah5 and Hannah (Cobb) Whitney, was born 7 May 1787, Gorham, ME, and died 22 May 1852, Saint Paul, MN.

He married firstly, Jun 1815, Phillips, ME, Sally Dyer. She was born 10 May 1789, Malden, MA, and died May 1834, Phillips, ME.

He married secondly, 1836, Farmington, ME, Sarah (Ramsdell) Crompton. She died at Plymouth, ME.

He married 3d, 23 May, 1840, Unity, ME, Betsey (Chase) Ayer. She had married firstly, Benjamin Ayer, Jr.

He was born in Gorham, ME, married at Phillips, where he was a general merchant. In 1838 he moved to Plymouth, ME, where, after a residence of ten years, he moved to Portland. In 1851, he moved to St. Paul, where he died the following year. He was buried at Phillips. He resided Phillips, Plymouth and Portland, ME, and Saint Paul, MN.
