Jonas6 Whitney (Jonas5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), born Harvard, May 3, 1756; married Relief Holt.

He was a member of the company commanded by Capt. David Moore, from Bolton, in the Revolutionary war, and participated in the reoccupation of Rhode Island, 25 Oct 1779. On his return home the following year, 1780, he was elected one of the town comittee on correspondence and safety. In 1786 he was elected selectman. With four others he built the first acqueduct in Harvard, in Nov., 1796, laying wood pipes to carry water to his residence from a spring near by. Jonas Whitney's widow's dower: She is appointed and authorized on oath to appraise all the real estate whereof Jonas Whitney, late of Harvard, deceased, left and to set off to the widow, Relief Whitney, her thirds, 4 Feb 1804. He died 26 Nov 1803; resided Harvard, Massachusetts.

vii. Relief Whitney, born 4 Nov 1799; married 31 Oct 1826, Gillum Barnes, born Mar. 5, 1800; he died 11 Mar 1884; she died 25 Feb 1870.
