Family:Whitney, Samuel (s1810-a1851)
Samuel7 Whitney (Richard6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Richard6 and Martha (Flanders) Whitney,[1] born -----[2], and died sometime after 1838. If he was the Samuel Whitney who had married Mary (see below), then he died after 1838.
He may have married, 24 Sep 1832, Belfast, ME, Mary Eaton. She was born circa 1809, and died 17 Jun 1843, buried Sebec Corner Cemetery, Sebec, Pascataquis Co., ME.[3]
The Vital Records of Sebec, Piscataquis Co., ME, have a record of a Samuel Whitney marrying, 7 Jul 1844, Sebec, ME, Clarissa H. Stearns of Bowdoinham, ME. He may be this Samuel Whitney.
He was a sea captain.[4]
On 13 Nov 1837 there was a transaction between Samuel Whitney and Richard Whitney, recorded in Sebec, in which Richard Whitney was listed "of Northport".
The following advertisement was placed in five editions of the Waldo Patriot in 1838:[5]
- MORTGAGOR'S NOTICE.
- The undersigned holds a Mortgage executed to him August 29th, 1835, by Washington Pitcher of Northport, in the County of Waldo and State of Maine, of a parcel of land situated in said Northport, bounded as follows, viz. beginning at a stake and stones at the Southerly corner of John Herrick's land - thence by said land North 22° West sixty rods to a stake and stones - thence by the same land and land owned by Brown and Pitcher North 68° East eighty rods, to land formerly belonging to Hezekiah Flanders - thence by said land South 22° East sixty rods to the North line of land contracted by Geo. Knowlton - thence South 68° West eighty rods by said line tot he first mentioned bounds; containing 26 acres more or less; to secure the payment of three notes of hand of one hundred dollars each, payable in one, two and three years respectively from the date of said Mortgage, and interest. Said two first notes remaining unpaid, I claim to have possession of said premises for breach of the conditions of said Mortgage, to foreclose the same.

Note that the Hezekiah Flanders listed in the above record was probably his maternal grandfather.
Children of Samuel7 Whitney, if any, are unknown.
