Hello All
Mary Ann Lindsay
My apologies for a slow response, I've been on vacation and haven't been putting much time on the internet. Thanks for your recent mail I read it last night, my uncle Albert Aston lived on Old River Road during the early 40's I forget the address, but it was close to the river. I haven't heard from Allan since June 11, he may be out of internet contact. The Thomas that I refered to in the last letter was the father of John Whitney the imigrant, Robert Ward wrote that he saw an article that disputed that Thomas was the son of Robert Whitney as our records show.

Thanks for the information on the article "Whitney Origins Revisited" by Paul C. Reed, from the January 1994 edition of The American Genealogist(TAG) magazine. I'll try to get a copy I'm anxious to see what documentation he use to refute the claim that Thomas was not Roberts son.
Evelyn Brown
The GEDCOMS that I've been sending are numbered sequentially that is Whitney7.GED, Whitney8.GED etc have generally been updates, so you can safely discard the GEDCOMS prior to Whitney8.GED, Whitney9.GED was an attempt to change the pre John and Elinor data to the information supplied by Allan Green, I goofed during the merge and asked everyone to ignore that version, Whitney10.GED awaits a burst of energy on my part. The future Whitneyn.GEDs will be from John and Elinor and later, Allan Green will provide the pre John and Elinor database, and Joan Hick will provide the Henry Whitney database.
Robert Ward
Thanks for the insight on the LDS Ancestral File, our database accepts information from the contributors without question. If there is a conflict in input we list the differences and try, without much success, to resolve them. Your future assistance is welcome to resolve our issues.
M'Lisa Whitney
I have you on my list for the Whitney GEDCOM and will send it within the next week or so, if you want an earlier version please EMail me. Can you shed any light on the Thomas/Robert controversy?
Kelly Best/Amy Levy
Welcome to the Whitney Research Group, I looked up your line in the Pierce book and he covers it through William b ? died 1/18/1810, was a prominent citizen of Chenango Co., N.Y., and was a general in the State Militia. Please send me your family info, by GEDCOM if available.
Mike Lewis
I received your descendency chart from Jeanne Muse, she indicates that you have a GEDCOM, I'd appreciate a copy.
Keep in touch
Jon Aston

Subject: GEDCOM
Hello All;
I'm ready to send the latest version of the John and Elinor decendants GEDCOM, this version will supercede all other versions and will be named Witney10.GED.
This version will not contain John and Elinors ancestors, that will be provided soon by Allan Green.
I will send either the complete GEDCOM or the GEDCOM of the decendants of one of John and Elinors sons. Please let me know which you want, To avoid cluttering up the mail with, I will not send a GEDCOM to you unless you request it.
The GEDCOM, which stands for GEnealogical Data COMmunications, file is an ascii file that is formated to be compatible with most if not all of the Family Tree Computer Programs. It can also be viewed using a Word processor but is very large (692 pages) and it is difficult to determine the families relationships using the Word Processor. A Family Tree Program will allow you to view the ancestors of a particular person, or create a tree of as many generations as you please. I bought Family Tree Maker for Windows for about $40.00 and find it to be well worth the investment. Perhaps other members can comment on the benefits of other Family Tree Programs.
Listed below are the names of the children and their decendants who are members of the group, please let me know if I omitted anyone:
John Whitney:
Jerrie A. (Burdick) Moore Gilbert Russell Payson Allan Eugene Green Kimberly (Walsh) Walters Thomas L. Searle Herbert Phelps Karen Lee (Becker) Grubaugh Glenn Charles Selch
Richard Whitney:
Rita Louise (Whitney) Bernier Arvy Le Roy Whitney
Nathaniel Whitney:
